Old School Butcher Shop - Rusty Nail Meats

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Hanna Brooks, owner of Rusty Nail Meats, located in Scottsdale, AZ, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

A locally owned butcher shop, trying to bring that hometown feel to Scottsdale, Arizona. Our business serves anyone & everyone who enjoys high-quality meats and customer service.

Tell us about yourself

We are a husband & wife team that enjoys working together. Shane has butchered his own game with his dad since he was a child & Hanna always dreamed of owning her own business one day, just like her father. Their two dreams were able to come together to do something they both love. We are motivated by two big things each and every day. The first one is God; without him, nothing would be possible. The second is the opportunity to give back to our community that supports us each and every day. It brings us so much joy getting to know all of our customers and being able to support their kid's sports teams, youth groups, & all different charities our community is a part of.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My top accomplishment as a business owner has been being able to open up two different businesses in just under two years, all by the age of 25.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest part about being a business owner is enjoying the moment. A lot of times, we get so caught up in how can I be more successful, how can I take this business to the next level, or what is next that we have to remember just to take a step back and see how far we have come and all you have accomplished so far.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

My top 3 tips to anyone trying to start a business would start with the most important one, take the risks. All great ideas have a risk that comes with them. The second would be to believe in yourself & what you're capable of. My last tip is to surround yourself with people who you want to be like. You become who you associate yourself with.
