Author of a critically acclaimed book A to Z of D-Toxing: The Ultimate Guide to Reducing Our Toxic Exposures and EMF Detox Workbook: Checklists to Recover from Electromagnetic Radiation, I have been an active speaker on practical, nontoxic living. However, I am a wife and mother of three delightful daughters.
Soon after I gave birth to my first daughter, I started learning about toxic chemicals in baby products. Alarmed and surprised that poisonous chemicals would be present in baby products sold in America, I did everything I could to learn which products were safer and what else I should know.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Since A to Z of D-Toxing took eight years to research and write, I would select A to Z of D-Toxing as my most significant accomplishment. It quickly landed me on the Doctor Oz Show, Well+Good Council, Brown University School of Public Health Advisory Council, and much more. One of the most amazing experiences was signing a copy of A to Z of D-Toxing for a meeting with Vice President Al Gore.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
As an entrepreneur, I'm working 24/7. It takes work to establish boundaries.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
First, get informed, but also listen to your instincts.
Second, expect that business will feel messy sometimes and that you will often feel like you need to know what you're doing. But that's to be expected when you're creating something new.
Last, meditate! Take time to listen to your inner voice.
