What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Certified Yoga Therapist. I use a humanistic, holistic approach to treat bereavement, anxiety, depression, and relational issues through counseling, deep listening, mindful movement, and breathwork.
Tell us about yourself
I started out as a yoga teacher and used to run a teacher training focusing on therapeutic yoga. Then I became a Certified Yoga Therapist and worked with people of diverse backgrounds and treating diverse conditions. Most recently, I became a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist. I love my work because the healing process is magical to me. I love seeing a person transform in a beautiful and empowered way.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Running a Yoga Alliance-accredited teacher training was a big accomplishment. I even did it while I was pregnant with my second child! Later, becoming a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and combining that with yoga, reflects my deep commitment to a holistic healing process. I feel accomplished to be running a private practice in Ojai, California, seeing people in person, but primarily via telehealth.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
I love doing the actual work of yoga therapy and psychotherapy, so the hardest part for me is all the logistical things required to have a business.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
First of all, find something you love doing or that you will love to offer others. Second of all, be sure you have all your ducks in a row in terms of business details. Thirdly, have fun!
