It Doesn't Get Easier; You Get Better - Ross Tschirn
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Ross Tschirn, Founder of Fit Mom and Dad, located in Austin, TX, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My fiancé Savannah and I are online fitness and nutrition coaches. We put a massive emphasis on educating our clients about food - we embrace flexibility and teach the people we work with how to satisfy their cravings without sabotaging their long-term results. Our mission is to make this world a better place, one healthier human at a time.
Tell us about yourself
Back in 2016, I had an opportunity to go on a reality tv series on The History Channel called "The Selection," where I had special forces operators bring myself and 29 other civilians through a special forces selection boot camp process. I tell this story because I was just a young 21 yr old boy who had just graduated college with a bachelor's in economics, and here I am out in the desert in California being filmed by a major production company. I knew that I was supposed to be a leader in fitness; I just didn't know how. Until the day I was out there with the navy seals getting my butt kicked. I knew that I was meant to show others that you can do anything you set your mind to. Fitness is my passion, and I love teaching others what I know and leading by example. I've watched so many friends and clients transform their lives before my eyes because of my coaching and advice. That feeling of joy and fulfillment keeps me motivated to be my best self as an example for those around me. I've been able to feel freedom and autonomy in my body and mind, and it's a feeling I will continue to share with everyone around me until I'm gone.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Being in business for 5 years and making it work. Going into business with my fiancé is hard, but it's been a blessing to work together and provide a life for each other that we love. My biggest financial accomplishment was making 25k in one month with my online fitness business. But the biggest accomplishment of all is being there for someone and watching them change their life :) All because of your advice and support.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The lows. Sometimes the highs are so great, but the lows can be tough too. Financial instability. Not knowing what the future holds. The unknown. But I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world ;)
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Have great business partners and a long-term plan.
- Learn to see ahead and then reverse engineer.
- Have fun with it and keep an abundant mindset.
