Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sarah Coker, Owner of Rooted in Wellness, located in Wildomar, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Rooted in Wellness is a space for holistic healing practices combined with an evidence-based approach to help people achieve their optimal health and wellness. I serve our local community by simply helping them feel better. I utilize techniques like Myofascial Release, Reiki Energy work, Yoga, and Meditation, in conjunction with my Occupational Therapy lens to approach each person’s situation uniquely and “whole-istically.”

Tell us about yourself

I first started my holistic journey with yoga and meditation when I was 15 years old. I came to understand how deeply important the body, mind, and spirit connection truly is. It has pulled me out of moments of despair, rage, anxiety, and postpartum depression (just to name a few). Learning to care for myself in all aspects has helped me create the life I dreamt of for this human experience. It sparked a passion in me to extend my knowledge of the body and love for the holistic healing world to others who are also having a human experience (everyone). I truly believe that our connection to the body, mind, and spirit is the path to true freedom. I’m motivated to return day after day to our healing studio to ignite that spark in one of my clients for a better quality of life. That’s our birthright!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is when a client says, “Wow. I feel so much better than when I first walked in.” I couldn’t ask for anything more at the end of the day. Authentic, raw, and real healing is a process, and watching people progress through it is awe-inspiring.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The “behind the scenes” work it takes to make everything run smoothly and feel genuine (the space, media, engagement, experience, follow-up, emails, etc.). I want to take the stress out of the process it takes to make it to the studio, so they can take a deep exhale when they arrive for their healing session. With that comes loads of preparation.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Begin! Now. Not all at once, but little by little. Design your dream and scale it back to realistic steps you can start taking now. You CAN do it, and the world needs your unique gifts.
