What's your business, and who are your customers?
We handcraft plant-based goods for home and body. We put an emphasis on being environmentally friendly. We are vegan, cruelty-free, and plastic free!
Tell us about yourself
I'm the founder and operator of Roote. After a long career working in the corporate retail sector, I started this business shortly after learning candle-making as a hobby. Watching this chapter in my life grow from a home hobby to an international brand is what keeps me motivated to continue this business.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Our biggest accomplishment was landing our first national retailer account.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Scaling the business has been the hardest challenge. As the business grows, so do the expenses, and it's a constant battle to stay ahead of the game and grow simultaneously.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be prepared to pivot the business and adapt to changes.
- Have a plan A, B, and C.
- Start your business out of passion- not greed.
