Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Robin Klein, founder of In Tune Nutrition Therapy, located in Willow Grove, PA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

In Tune Nutrition Therapy is my virtual private practice with a mission of helping individuals and families heal from chronic dieting and develop a healthy relationship with food and their bodies.

Tell us about yourself

I have been a dietitian for over 13 years and have always been passionate about making a difference in people’s lives. I started my first diet around age ten and dieted into my early twenties. It took me many years to finally repair my relationship with food and my body. Life is so much more enjoyable without daily intrusive and obsessive thoughts about food and weight. Furthermore, as a mom of two young kids, I am committed to being a positive role model for them and raising them to be intuitive and body-confident throughout all their (expected) periods of growth and body changes. I love helping my clients find the same food freedom and body acceptance for their families. I believe all bodies are worthy of nourishment, respect, and care.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is that I finally took the leap of faith and founded In Tune Nutrition Therapy in 2021. Starting a business was a goal of mine for many years, but I struggled to find the confidence and courage to do it. It’s been so incredibly rewarding already. Many of my clients have been with me from the beginning and are making incredible strides in their journeys to find a peaceful relationship with food and their bodies. Additionally, many of my referrals are word-of-mouth from current clients. It means the world to me to work alongside so many incredible people, helping them to elevate their health through sustainable behavioral changes. My work lights up my soul, and I feel incredibly blessed to be making a positive impact in my clients’ lives.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

I think, for me, the hardest part about becoming a business owner is the steep learning curve. While I was so excited to branch out on my own, there were so many unknowns and so many things I didn’t (and still don’t) know how to do. Knowing when to delegate work is incredibly important. You don’t have to do it all yourself.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Pay close attention to what you’re drawn to. What do you like reading about the most? What topics of conversation light up your soul? What types of topics do you enjoy listening to or learning about the most? This will help you to find the work you were destined to do.
  2. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, especially in areas of your business that will take a lot of time away from you doing what you love and are good at. Be gentle with yourself. You don’t have to do it all right away.
  3. Connect with other like-minded providers in your field. I have made incredible friendships with other eating disorder and weight-inclusive practitioners, and I am so incredibly grateful for this amazing community.
