More Than Just Pain Relief - Dr. Robert Shire

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Dr. Robert Shire, a Doctor of Chiropractic and Keynote Public Speaker, based in New York, NY, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm a Doctor of Chiropractic. Helping people overcome pain, feel better and get healthy. Anyone with a spine is a potential patient/customer. I see musicians, athletes, executives, actors, and my favorite - pregnant moms and kids.

Tell us about yourself

I chose to become a chiropractor because, being an athlete all my life, I always knew about the amazing power of the human body. Knowing that the human body can heal itself never ceases to amaze me. I get to work with individuals from all walks of life, nationality, backgrounds, race, religions, etc. They all have the same spinal column with a nerve system to keep them functioning and alive. I love that every case is a challenge and something I can learn from. I love connecting with people and helping them realize their own inborn/innate healing potential. My motivation is to give, love, and serve out of my own abundance.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is being able to still practice my craft after the global pandemic. When we could not get within 6 feet of a stranger, practicing chiropractic was challenging to say the least. The fact that I was able to persevere and still be here three years later to serve my patients is an accomplishment.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Taking responsibility for everyone and everything. Success and failure are equally mine. I'm the cause and effect of my business. Show up every day as if your life and my patients' lives depend on it... because it does.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Commit. Be ready to do whatever it takes.
  2. Gather a great team and create effective systems to make the work stress free.
  3. Remember to enjoy and have fun. If you don't enjoy and have fun, it's not worth doing. Life is short, and you're going to spend a lot of time working. You might as well make it something you enjoy.
