We Can Help Any Business Be More Profitable - Robert Green
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Robert Green, Business Coach at Melbourne Business Advisors, located in Malabar, FL, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is Melbourne Business Advisors, and I help business owners/operators increase their customer base, revenues, earnings, and valuation on their way to a better exit. I do this by working closely with business owners who fall between the extremes of either struggling to break even or those who are thinking about successfully exiting their business in the next 1-5 years. My customers have become experts in their products and services but are often the chief fulfillment officer and need to lead themselves, their employees, their customers, and their markets and need a guide to help them become more successful quickly.
Tell us about yourself
I started out by volunteering as a business mentor at Florida Tech's WeVenture Ignite360 program over five years ago. The business owners I worked with wanted more out of their business than just a job that they created for themselves and needed help finding a way out. I took many of the lessons from this experience to create a system called The Simple P&L System to help them grow their business through organic and strategic growth hacking and The Better Exit to help them prepare for a successful exit. I am obsessed with helping others succeed in their life's work and passion.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I consider myself to be a transformational business leader and help my clients with their path to success. My biggest accomplishments have been to help clients reduce their stress and increase their well-being, as well as improve their relationship health by helping them shift into a healthy business with an exit plan that they can achieve in a reasonable amount of time.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing about being a business owner is self-discipline. We can do better when we learn to do better, but often even I can fall prey to distraction or delay. So I understand what exactly pains my customer's experience and have a recipe that will help them move in the right direction instead of treading water in the same spot.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
The first thing I would tell someone looking to start, run and grow a business is to start with a vision of what the end looks like first. What do you want to get out of your business when you want to get out?
The next thing is that there is no benefit to taking the slow road to your exit. Make it your goal to reach your visionary exit in as short of a time period as possible, then exit. If you want to exit after you reach a certain earnings level or valuation level, then go fast. Slowly growing is not a winning strategy.
Lastly, make sure you don't go it alone. Together, we are better than any one of us. If you don't work with me as your business advisor, work with someone you trust who will challenge you and align today's goals with your end goals.
