What's your business, and who are your customers?
Riverfront Bakery is a European French-inspired bakery. We make viennoiserie, pastries, crepes, quiche and sandwiches. We bake a small batch every day; we are proud to say that freshness is our key ingredient. We won Best of Delaware croissants in 2021. We also offer baking classes; we do holiday bake sales and dessert tastings. We offer LaColombe coffee and have their unique cold brew and draft latte system. We have loyal customers who have supported us through hard times since we opened midst of the pandemic. Our goal is to provide our customers with the best quality.
Tell us about yourself
I am originally from Eastern Europe, and I have always admired cozy bakeries that offer fresh pastries. That is something I missed after moving to the USA. With the support of my husband and the hard work we put into opening this bakery, we made this dream come true. The feedback that we get from our customers is our best motivation.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I think just offering something that people like is a great accomplishment. When you hear the positive feedback from your customers, that’s the best motivation.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Well, we opened during COVID, so that's been pretty hard. I am grateful we never had to close our doors. We are very hopeful that life will get back to normal very soon. And I am sure we'll see a different side of being a business owner in a no pandemic world.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Believe in your business. Even during hard times, keep believing.
- Always be creative.
- Great team is a big part of success.
