What's your business, and who are your customers?
I'm a jewelry designer and metalsmith handcrafting each piece of jewelry I sell from start to finish. My customers appreciate unique, one-of-a-kind artisan pieces with quality craftsmanship and materials.
Tell us about yourself
I look forward to and am motivated by the newest piece I'm making. My favorite days are spent in my studio creating and working to see what I've imagined completed in metal. It's very satisfying. I'm also excited by the gemstones I work with on days I'm designing new pieces in wax. These are the same feelings I had when I was starting out learning the trade. I feel lucky that I got my start working under a goldsmith while in high school. I always looked forward to going to work then and really put in the hours perfecting my skills and absorbing as much as I could about jewelry making.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I would say I'm proud that I've been making a full-time living off of my craft for twenty years.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest times and one of the easiest is going with the flow. Being able to adapt to things outside of your control is important for longevity.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Do what you can with what you have, then grow by relentlessly working on your dream every day.
