Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in Health and Wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Erica Reisinger, owner and coaching of Revive Your Tribe, located in Fairport, NY, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a Certified Health & Wellness Coach in Fairport, NY, and own Revive Your Tribe. I help women learn how to gain energy and feel better in their bodies naturally by finding a better balance with healthy (and not so healthy!) foods. My clients are women, usually moms but not always, looking to increase their energy. They want to have a healthier relationship with food so that they can start making better choices that will better serve them physically and mentally. Often they want to manage their weight, help reduce menopause symptoms and fight disease that runs in their family. They 100% of the time want to learn how to cook healthy meals that are fast, easy, and delicious! While they can accomplish those things, the first thing they notice is an increase in their energy levels which allows them to make healthier choices and change how they feel on a daily basis.
Tell us about yourself
I am a wife and mama of two kids (ages seven and ten), first and foremost! My family fills my cup daily (even the tough days!), and I am incredibly lucky to have their love and support. On top of that, I love being a part of a close knit community and living my purpose through my business as well as by teaching spin classes and subbing at my local elementary schools. I started my business because I realized that I could increase my energy (even with small kids!) and improve my digestion by eating a healthier, more balanced diet. I didn't have to cut calories, give up food groups or stop eating my favorite treats in order to be in a body that gave me energy and was comfortable to live in. It was a whole new level of freedom! Friends would repeatedly ask me what I was eating and how to cook healthy but delicious meals constantly. I absolutely loved helping other moms improve their health and realized that I could do this by becoming a Health Coach. There is nothing in my business, that lights me up like receiving an email, DM or being or call from a current or past client telling me all of the amazing shifts they're making for themselves - and how much they are loving how they feel because of it! Because they've decided to put in the work and effort to take better care of themselves, they not only have more energy, but with that energy, they are able to achieve their goals and dreams easier and faster. They also start to exercise more often, leading to better stress management and sleep. The shifts that occur because they learn to have a better balance with food really add up. Watching them work through that process and find themselves living how they want to be living is nothing short of amazing! I have amazing clients!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is creating a business that makes me feel like I'm making a difference. I love being able to help other moms feel better in their bodies and minds on a daily basis!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things about being a business owner is that there can be a lack of community. There are no co-workers, water coolers, or lunch rooms to chit-chat and make friends at. Many times it's just me and my computer (and my pup!), so I have to make an effort to put myself out there to create meaningful, impactful friendships with others that are in the same boat. It's extremely rewarding to build your own community!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Three tips I would give to anyone looking to start their own business is to just start. Don't wait until everything is perfect, or done 100%. Just put what you have out there and get started! You'll get farther faster than if you wait for everything to be perfect. I would also recommend growing your own community immediately. Reach out to other entrepreneurs in your area who are in a similar field of work. There are so many wonderful people who can help you grow and can offer support and friendship (and vice versa!). These relationships will help propel you forward. My third tip would be to find a space that helps motivate you and that helps creativity flow. For me, that means moving my body. I try to incorporate a workout in on days when I am working not only because it's good for me, but it gets my creativity pumping. I can also clear my head, organize my thoughts for the day and take time to practice gratitude. It gives me the space to think and create without interruption - it puts me in the right mindset to have a productive and fulfilling day!
