Expand Your Creativity, and Gain Confidence - RetroScripts
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kimberley Rivando-Robb, Owner of RetroScripts, located in St. Catharines, ON, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
RetroScripts brings together writers and creators of various skill levels with open minds and creative souls looking to explore their writing abilities while still honouring and navigating their journey of discovery. I provide several services, from book writing to life documentation, content creation, and writing coaching.
Tell us about yourself
As an author, writing coach, and unique programs creator, I work with individuals looking to expand their creativity, gain confidence in themselves and their writing, and embark on a journey that looks at life through a clear lens.
I have completed my English Language and Literature degree, a postgraduate degree in Journalism New Media, and a diploma as a Personal Support Worker. As an upbeat and quirky woman, I gain passion and writing inspiration from the environment, personal self-care, and observing the complex nature of human life. Strength, support, and creativity are components that I believe to be necessities to life, necessities I’m happy to provide to my clients.
Using RetroScripts, I’m able to provide knowledge, confidence, and written work through not only my unique bound books but also several different workshops and writing services that help you to dig deep and release your story. I focus on guiding and teaching people from all walks of life to work with releasing their business, personal and creative writing in a healthy and conscious way.
I'm motivated by my desire to be unapologetically myself and want others to feel they can be open and travel their own journey as themselves. While working with my clients, I encourage others to say what they mean and work in a way that feels natural and supported.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is seeing the face of someone who once said they aren't creative or can't write after they complete a project with me. Seeing their light and sense of accomplishment is the ultimate payoff, and watching that growth is inspiring.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner, in my opinion, is the business side of the work. I LOVE what I do and am passionate about both writing and people, but there is a lot to learn and continue learning when it comes to being a business owner.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Come from the heart.
- Respect and honour your values, morals, and needs.
- Don't stop when things become too hard or uncomfortable - often times that's where the magic lies!
