What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a chronic pain coach, and I help women who have had pain disrupt their lives for a year or more get back to the lives they love, one step at a time.
Tell us about yourself
I have had my own experience with 20 years of chronic pain disrupting my life. When I learned about the research done on pain over the last 25 years that still isn’t mainstream and how it solved my issues, I wanted to help anyone who was willing to listen get free from pain!
Accessing accurate information among all the inaccuracies out there is so hard. So I started blogging so people could have access. Now I coach those who need more individual guidance, and it is the best job in the world!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Oh gosh. My biggest accomplishment? I think I should write my memoir. "Restoring Venus" was a deep dive into what it feels like to be in chronic pain. I wanted others to know they weren’t alone, and I wanted medical professionals to see what it looks like outside the office. I’m glad I wrote it; it has started lots of conversations, and I’m proud of that.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I am gifted and wired for people. I love coaching 1:1 or group… I find marketing and the business portion of business very challenging. I’m a one-woman show, and I am not good at everything!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Top 3 tips if you want to start a business…
- It’s hard—harder than you can imagine. So plan more than you think you need. Then plan more.
- Understand marketing and social media before you leave your day job. Unless it is your day job, you probably don’t understand it as you think!
It’s an amazing ride. - Enjoy the good days and learn from the hard days. Don’t give up. You’ve got this!
