Therapeutic & Behavioral Services - Restored Hope Counseling

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sabrina Sosa, Founder of Restored Hope Counseling, located in Miami Lakes, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Restored Hope Counseling provides therapeutic and behavioral services to women, children, and families in Florida that will lead to emotional healing and hope n themselves and their relationships.

Tell us about yourself

I am a bilingual (English & Spanish) Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 12 years of experience working with over 2,000 individuals of all ages. I've worked with children and families in foster care, school setting, and private practice. Every day I'm so grateful to witness lives getting better. I work hard, and I do it with all of my heart. I am dedicated to helping others improve their quality of life by teaching them how to love themselves well and how to cultivate healthy relationships through evidence-based techniques.

I have learned that no matter how young or old you are, an unresolved conflict that remains in the heart builds up over time and deeply affects your thought process and behavior towards others. The healing process requires examining your heart, transparency, openness, honesty, and work.

Guiding others through difficult circumstances, I'm very passionate about helping others view their painful experiences as opportunities and stepping stones for substantial personal, relational, and spiritual growth.

My specialty is women, children/teens, parenting, and Christian counseling. I was born and raised in South Florida. I obtained my Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology at Trinity International University, Bachelor's Degree in Journalism & Mass Communication with a major in Public Relations at Florida International University, and an associate's Degree in Business Administration from Miami-Dade Community College.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is when a patient thanks me and tells me how they are getting better and/or how their relationships are improving. I thank God for changing my heart in 2005 and giving me the heart to counsel every person He brings to my care.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The challenge of rest. Many business owners struggle with stopping. Just one more email. Just one more phone call. Just one more sale. Just one more... the list goes on. There will ALWAYS be work to do, and the work will never stop. It's hard not to get caught up in the busy web and hard not to work every moment you're awake. So tempting and so damaging (mentally, emotionally, and physically).

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. It is crucial that before making a business plan, you make a list of your priorities in life. Then you do your business around those priorities. Setting boundaries helps you to accomplish a quality life, which includes sufficient self-care and quality time with your loved ones.
  2. Create a time budget. This includes how much time your business will require of you and allocating time for everything else in your life. If it doesn't fit in your time budget, then something in your life has to go.
  3. Boundaries. Set the boundaries of your business (office hours). Don't forget to assign yourself office hours as well. Burnout is only a matter of time when you have no boundaries in your business.
  4. Motives. Question your motives on WHY you want to start the business. Can this motive reward your heart? Can this motive fuel your business over and over? Ask yourself if all of the sacrifices (money and time) will be worth it.
