Create a Fulfilling Life - Repurpose Your Purpose

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Aurora Meneghello, Founder of Repurpose Your Purpose, located in Los Angeles, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a Transformative Coach and Founder of Repurpose Your Purpose.

I like to describe my work as creating space for inner wisdom to show up. I work with career changers, business owners who want to grow their profits and impact, and leaders who want to improve their organization's well-being and profitability. Together we explore living and working from a deep sense of presence and purpose.

Repurposes have started or expanded their businesses, found more fulfilling jobs, become coaches, written books, increased their income, and reconnected to their deeper Wisdom.

Tell us about yourself

I believe that inside every one of us, there is a deep and innate Source of well-being and Wisdom. I experienced a real sense of it years ago, and it changed me in a remarkable way.

At the end of 2015, I realized I had spent so many years always chasing the next goal, and yet I always felt unsatisfied again shortly after I reached it. I lived trying to control everything. I didn’t realize how scared I was. I had completely burned out. I should have been happy, and yet…

At the end of 2015, I embarked on a deep journey of transformation: as I let go of the need to control my life, over time, something much deeper in me spontaneously arose to guide me. Repurpose, your Purpose emerged from surrendering to what was a deep inner calling. I actually resisted being a coach! It was not something I “wanted” to do. It wanted me.

What we do for a living is so much more than “work:” feeling a sense of connection, meaning, and appreciation is fundamental to living a fulfilling life. For some people, that means having a great work-life balance, knowing you do a good job with your clients or employees. For others, it means finding the courage to bring about deep societal change. For others, yet again it might be to dedicate themselves to their family.

What we do also impacts society at large: when we are happy and proud at work, our children learn they too can be happy doing what they love. When we build ethical businesses, we contribute to bringing forth an ethical society. When we generate wealth and share it, we increase the well-being of our communities.

When we experience living life in alignment with our deepest Truth, much more than work transforms, sharing this understanding is what lights me up!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Every single client who succeeds is why I do this work. I am my clients’ biggest fan, and some have stayed in touch with me for years. I love hearing about and celebrating each milestone and accomplishment in their lives.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

This is not my first business, so I was a little more prepared for it! I think until you start working for yourself, it’s hard to fully grasp how much you will have to work on your own limiting beliefs, fears, etc. Being in business has a way of shining a light on all the baggage we carry.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Take things one step at a time. There is no way to learn how to be in business or how to create a sustainable practice without doing it. Although you can learn from programs, books, and other professionals, there is no substitute for your own experience. The best and most long-lasting businesses thrive thanks to their team’s ability to be in the moment, understand their own customers, and pivot with the times. You don’t develop these capacities overnight.
  2. Work on yourself: a big part of the business is inner work. When you work for yourself, you bump into all your limiting beliefs: are you afraid of expressing yourself? Welcome to marketing! Are you uncomfortable with asking for money? Welcome to sales! Are you afraid of saying no and setting boundaries? You get the idea. You cannot effectively delegate something that you are uncomfortable with or scared of. That’s also why I love working for myself: it’s one of the most powerful ways to grow.
  3. Get an accountant and a coach from the start. Really. Running a business is very different from being paid as an employee. The sooner you get expert help in that department, the better. I have been working with my coach from the very beginning: like everyone else, I go through bouts of insecurity, get overwhelmed by possible choices, and can at times be more focused on the negative than on what is possible. I am a huge fan of coaching, and I can tell you it’s the #1 thing that has made a difference in my work.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

No matter what you end up doing, you are always worthy. I recently wrote about the importance of practicing self-acceptance: since 2015, my life has transformed. I feel more acceptance, compassion, and peace of mind. I trust I will be OK, no matter the circumstances.

But this trust didn’t come from running a successful business: it was the other way around. Finding the Source of my own Wisdom and well-being opened me up to what worked for me and gave me the courage to create it. It’s been a wonderful journey, and I am looking forward to growing deeper into it.
