Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Mark Tsemak, owner of Red Square Bakery, located in Burnaby, BC, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are a food manufacturer of authentic Russian food products and Keto Powerflax Baked Goods for people with diabetes and autoimmune system disorders.
Tell us about yourself
Many years ago, I saw no Russian food representation in Canada, so I opened a bakery and started supplying Costco and Superstores with Piroshki stuffed dough rolls. Later I invented a low-carb baking Powerflax Baking mix for Diabetics or People who wanted to lose weight, lost 57 lbs. by myself on it, and many other people started following our Keto Powerflax Regimen. Now we produce over 160 products, and most of them are Keto Low Carb.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
We are saving many lives daily with our Keto Powerflax Baked Products and feel very proud of it!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
You never know in business which line of products will be a winner, so you have to be prepared to lose some ground as you progress in business or change your manufacturing practices as the market changes quickly!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Create a service or product which fixes people's problems, be very unique, so you avoid competition, and make sure you are well funded.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Believe in yourself and work hard and smart! Sometimes there are no days off in business!
