What's your business, and who are your customers?

Inspired by the childhood nostalgia of playing on the playground with friends, Recess Pickleball is a celebration of good old-fashioned fun. We create high-quality paddles and accessories that are built for play in an array of fun-loving colors and designs that are as approachable as pickleball itself. Our mission is to bring that wholesome Recess feeling to people of all ages, encouraging them to take a break, have some fun, and play.

Tell us about yourself

I have always had an entrepreneurial zest to build a lifestyle brand. I grew up in a family of business owners and started playing a lot of pickleball during quarantine. I am highly motivated by my team and our customers. Recess would not be possible without either of them!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I am very proud of the collaborations and partnerships that we have established as a young brand, including Leanne Ford, J Crew, and Anthropologie.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

I think the hardest thing is staying focused and driving alignment with your team. There are so many things that we want to do and accomplish, but staying true to our focus is one of the most difficult things.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Let things evolve; it always turns out how it is supposed to. Listen to your customers; they always have the answer. Fail fast. If something does not work, learn from it and pivot quickly.
