Reduce Pain and Prevent Injuries - Reach Rehab
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kristi Barker, Founder of Reach Rehab, located in Regina, SK, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is called Reach Rehab, and it’s online physiotherapy and education on injury prevention. (@reach.rehab on social channels). My customers are anyone experiencing pain and or injuries that wants to recover and or people who are not in pain but want to live a healthy lifestyle and avoid injuries! I called it Reach Rehab because I donate a percentage of my earnings from my online programs to provide wheelchairs to people with disabilities in Africa, therefore reaching out to others in need.
Tell us about yourself
I first started my business after a trip to Uganda, Africa, when I learned how impactful education could be in people’s lives. When Covid happened, I started posting educational content on social media, and it grew, and now I use my online presence to give back, help people reduce their injuries, and connect with like-minded people. What keeps me motivated each day is hearing how my business helps others reduce their pain and get them back to their goals, and improve their life. I love people, and connecting with others and getting to help them feel better brings me so much joy!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is my back program that I designed. It’s accessible on an app, all video-based, and is extremely easy to use, and has already helped hundreds of people- I’m so proud that all my hard work is helping others, and also helped fundraise to donate 50 wheelchairs to people in need. 🙌
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things about being a business owner is learning to shut off and not overwork myself and or learning to delegate work to others.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Everything will take longer than you initially expected it to. Don’t be hard on yourself when you don’t meet deadlines, as you’re in such a huge learning phase, and it’s ok if it takes longer than expected.
- Ask others in your same profession or area for help! It’s so smart to establish connections, and there’s nothing wrong with asking others for help that have experience and can save you lots of time.
- Organize and structure your goals. Plan out your to-do list as much as possible and prep your work as much as possible to keep on target. Again don’t worry if it takes longer to accomplish things- but you need to have a plan. Also, plan for hiccups and setbacks- because they’re normal and bound to happen!
