Guiding You to Lasting Change - RE Wellness

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Leigh Gault, Founder of RE Wellness, located in Jackson, MS, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

RE Wellness is a functional medicine clinic—we look at the whole person and transform health by addressing the underlying cause of disease. Each patient has a unique genetic makeup, biochemistry, environment, history, and lifestyle; we learn your story with curiosity and empathy and then partner with you integrating best practices from conventional medicine, natural and alternative options, and innovative therapies to create a personalized healthcare solution.

In addition to Functional Medicine Visits and Lab Testing, our services include: IV Therapy, Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy, IFM Food Plans, Our Sunlighten Sauna, and GAINSWave and FemiWave for sexual wellness.

Our patients are those willing to put in the work to reclaim their health through decisions that lead to lasting change so they can live life to the fullest.

Tell us about yourself

I love criminal fiction, the Rocky Mountains, yoga, and gardening.

In my previous medical practice, I found myself treating people with cardiovascular issues that might have been prevented by small lifestyle changes if I could have gotten to them 10 years earlier. My own health journey left me frustrated with traditional medicine that too often treated only the symptoms and isolated organs.

My passion for functional medicine led me to further studies at George Washington University in Integrative Medicine and certification through the Institute of Functional Medicine. I am thrilled to bring this approach to Mississippi!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Helping people heal. Understanding people’s stories and partnering with them for lasting change brings me deep joy.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Juggling. Switching from practicing medicine to networking to establishing a culture to making business decisions often happens in the blink of an eye. Throw in additional schooling and being a mother of 6, and I’m glad to be partnering with my amazing husband in all of this!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Get Good Support. Don’t go on the journey alone. You’ll need a team to help—hiring excellent employees, finding mentors who can answer questions, and bringing family and friends along on the journey. Treat everyone with dignity and respect.
  2. Take Care of Yourself. As margins shrink, it’s tempting to cut corners with healthy lifestyle choices. Taking small steps towards healthy choices goes a long way and usually sets a person up for long-term success. Eat right, sleep well, exercise, balance your hormones, and manage your stress. Take time to immerse yourself in beauty and have a good meal with friends.
  3. Be flexible. You have to have a plan (we had a 120-page business plan), but my journey took lots of unexpected twists and turns. You’ll need to pivot, recalibrate, be patient, and do everything with the end in mind. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.
