What's your business, and who are your customers?

#livinglifesparkly gluten-free is a small, home-based bakery aimed at providing baked goods to those that are missing good ones! We are a 1 1/2 person operation (my daughter works part-time) providing cakes, cookies, breads - quick and yeast, as well as rolls and so much more! We make everything from scratch, conscious of our customers' sensitivities and requests. The majority of our customers a gluten-free, but some are not - because they want to support me as a small business, and everything just tastes good!

Tell us about yourself

I have always loved to bake. When my husband discovered he needed to cut out gluten, that meant no baking. But we both missed it, so I started playing with recipes that I have used for years, wanting them to be gluten-free, but not taste or feel gluten-free! There were so many failures but so many more successes! The joy in my customers' voices and faces makes every hour of baking easy to do.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Double my sales in my 3rd year!!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Being tired. As a small shop, all of the things fall to me. I vowed I would do everything I could for my bakery to be successful while not ignoring my family. I look forward to the day I can hire employees!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Follow your heart. Continue to grow in your business by reading, taking classes, and practicing. Take help when offered.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

This gluten-free bakery journey has been such a blessing; I have grown, personally, in ways I never imagined. It has been worth every minute!
