Integrate Your Business and Life - Rachel Anzalone
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal and business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Rachel Anzalone, founder of Rachel Anzalone LLC., located in San Antonio, TX, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a mentor, strategic thought partner, and satisfaction strategist to entrepreneurs and CEOs ready to design their next season from a place of alignment and ease. Part consultant, part objective observer, and part confidant, I help my clients integrate the next phase of their business and life — rooted in ease, alignment, and exceptional evolution.
Tell us about yourself
I have 20+ years of experience in the trenches of entrepreneurship, brick and mortar small businesses, corporate enterprises, and the top tiers of digital marketing, and over a decade of training and working in the world of holistic wellness, personal and collective development, and embodied living. And I love helping my clients integrate these two worlds in a way that blends deep self-inquiry, strategic development, and joy to move beyond expectations and create a business and life that's truly in alignment for them.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I launched my business during the 2008-2009 recession and have not only survived the ups and downs of the past 13 years but have managed to thrive through many evolutions and iterations as my business adapts to my growth and experiences, as well as economic and industry trends.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Learning to listen only to what's relevant and meaningful for you. There's so much noise out there about what you're supposed to do to be successful, and there are countless opportunities to invest in things that may or may not move the needle forward. Learning to discern between what's a good idea and what's a good idea for you is a challenge but one worth pursuing.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Treat everything as an experiment. Don't get too attached to anything out of the gate. Entrepreneurship is about experimentation and iteration. Test and test and test again. Then, when you find something that works, you'll be ready to run with it, and you won't get caught up in the inevitable failures that come with the territory.
- Learn to listen to yourself. You will be bombarded with advice from all angles - family, friends, and experts of all sorts. If you can learn to listen to your own intuition and trust your judgment, you'll find that 90% of what people say to you is about their experience, not what's best for you.
- Let go of FOMO. So many people try to do all the things at once, right from the beginning, because they're afraid that if they don't do it now, they will lose the opportunity. They end up with a whole lot of things that are partially done or partially successful and in a state of overwhelm. Do one thing at a time. Do it well. And then move on to the next. You'll get farther faster this way.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Whenever I find myself stuck, overwhelmed, or stressed about a decision or a challenge in my business, I take a break rather than trying to push through, make myself do the work or labor over figuring it out. I play with my cat, walk my dog, or visit the botanical gardens in my city. Creating space always brings a solution I could not have discovered in a state of tightness or tension, or focused concentration. If you feel like you don't have time to take a break, you need it all the more. Spaciousness is always the answer.
