Treats With a Taste of Royalty - Queen's Sweet Treats

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Charlotte Campbell, founder of Queen's Sweet Treats, located in Glen Burnie, MD, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Queen's Sweet Treats is a dessert shop that bakes with love! You get baked treats with a taste of royalty! My customers are my family, friends, and ones browsing for a delicious treat to satisfy a sweet craving. I treat each customer like family. When new customers order from me, you become part of my family!

Tell us about yourself

For five generations, my family has been baking and providing delicious treats to family & friends. I decided to start a company and keep the tradition going and share with all our wonderful sweet treats made from our homemade recipes.

I started baking at the early age of 10, watching and cooking alongside my mother, grandmother, cousins, and aunts. My mother brought me my easy bake oven (LOL). This is where it all started with creating ideas for mini treats, and I haven't stopped since.

I enjoy making family recipes with my girls in the kitchen alongside me. We love baking for all to enjoy. This puts a smile on our faces and warms my heart to provide nothing but the best! I will continue on this journey and pass this tradition on to my daughters.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is providing a future for my daughter. Leaving a legacy for them and showing them working hard at what you want, your dream will come true!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I started this in the middle of the pandemic; the hardest thing is pushing through when times are slow. Start from scratch with your own funds. Fighting self-doubt, second-guessing yourself. I had to get over that in order to be successful!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Ignore the talk of negativity of one's saying it won't last. Believe in what you're doing and not give in to naysayers. Stay passionate about your work your craft!

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I would say have a plan, know your worth. Have faith in God and believe in yourself!
