What's your business, and who are your customers?

Puremess makes natural skin and hair care products by hand. Our customers are mainly women aged 24 - 60 who care about their skin and the environment.

Tell us about yourself

I started Puremess after my second breast cancer. I was born out of a desire to give people happy, healthy skin using natural, effective ingredients that wouldn't harm them or the environment. My motivation comes from the desire to create a successful business for my family and to create something that will make them proud. I also really enjoy knowing that my products are making people look and feel great.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I have 2 - Bootstrapping a business and winning the Surrey Hills Gold Trademark for our sustainability.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Having to do everything on your own, it can be very lonely.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Listen to podcasts that will inspire your business brain - they also stop you from being lonely!
  2. Find out as much as you can about free resources that are available, like mentoring and coaching.
  3. Join lots of networking events and find support among other business owners.
