What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is an online bakery shop that specializes in mixing and baking homemade bundt cakes and bundt pound cakes shipped to customers in all USA cities and states. My customers are people from all over.
Tell us about yourself
My name is Asia Knowles. I am a mother and grandmother. I have four children, and that includes three adult daughters, one son, and two grandchildren. I'm from the Metro Atlanta area. In 2016 my youngest daughter graduated from high school. My son was still in elementary school. I worked years on the graveyard shift, and my daughter would be old enough to care for my minor son at that time. Well, high school graduation came, which meant I had to figure out what I was going to do about work and needing care for my son once I moved my daughter away to start college away from home. At that very moment, I asked God for guidance. So I stepped out on faith, gave my two weeks' notice to my job, and surprisingly became an independent contractor and began my journey as a rideshare driver. After being successful with that and having the flexibility of working for myself, a year later, I began baking homemade cakes and posting pictures on social media on my personal page, and people began to ask me can I ship. I had my first trial and error. I shipped a three-layered cake that had been shifted once it arrived to the customer. Then I utilized youtube and did lots of research on how to ship cakes. Then it finally came to light that I should try using bundt-style cake pans for baking whole cakes to ship easily, so there you have it. I mastered it, and I've been successfully shipping bundt-style cakes to customers all over the world.
What motivates me is the great feedback that I receive from people once they receive their cake box, and they express to me that my cakes are delicious and they can taste the love. And also how well care the cakes arrive, that motivates me.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
