Tell us about yourself
Being a creative at heart, Carrington graduated with an undergraduate degree in Graphic Design and Media arts. During her time completing her undergrad, taking a photography course was part of her required classes. She took photography, graduated, and went back to school for two more years to get a certificate in professional photography and graduated with honors. From there, she began freelancing and tried the 9-5 route, quickly learning the 9-5 route wasn't for her. She went back to freelancing and eventually launched her own business specializing in product photography servicing brands across the United States. One of the greatest enjoyments of running her own business is the people she works with and creates for, networks with, and has the opportunity to talk to and learn about. It truly does help expand your horizons and push you as a business owner in the best ways when you find the people who support you and want to see you succeed.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Being able to say I am doing what makes me happy every day, even when it's stressful.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Knowing when to stop and relax. I am a visionary and have always wanted to keep going for the next best thing. I'm always reading, learning, or doing, and as much as I enjoy it, I sometimes acknowledge that taking a little downtime is okay.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Be committed. Invest in a qualified mentor/advisor to help guide you. Don't quit when it looks bleak.
