Bring Your Biz to Life - Prints & Plants
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal and business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Liz Brindley, Creative Director and CEO of Prints & Plants, located in Santa Fe, NM, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am the CEO and Owner of a creative business that offers illustration and creative business coaching services. I work with visionary women who are ready to start and grow their creative businesses, as well as nature and environmental brands looking for artwork that makes their products stand out.
Tell us about yourself
I'm an illustrator and educator with a BFA who has exhibited my artwork in galleries across the United States, from New York City to Santa Fe, New Mexico. My motivation each day comes from my mission to empower fellow creative women with the tools, support, and encouragement to bring their dreams to life. Creatives, your work matters - it's time to share it with the world.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Reaching more than 16,500 creative students worldwide to encourage, empower, and motivate them to keep going on their creative journey. I truly believe that when creatives have the tools and support to share their big visions with the world, the world becomes a better place. It is my mission to empower creatives with the knowledge and confidence to build their dream businesses and lives.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Learning how to tune out all of the noise, "shoulds," and external pressures in order to truly honor, follow, and trust your unique vision and intuition. Even though this can be a challenge, it is also one of the most rewarding aspects of running a business.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Get incredibly clear on why you want to start your creative business. Your why will be your compass, guide, and reminder when the journey gets tough. Your why will keep you focused on the positive impact you want to create in the world with your business.
- Get to know your customers. Your business can't exist without your customers, (aka: your community). Get to know who they are, what they need, what they desire, and how your business can serve them.
- Don't forget to enjoy life along the way. Starting, running, and owning a business is a lot of work. In the pursuit of your goals, it can be easy to lose sight of all of the moments of joy along the way. Take time to pause and enjoy your journey as you bring your dream to life.
