What's your business, and who are your customers?

Pressed Floral is a flower preservation business that specializes in pressing, preserving, and framing a bride's wedding bouquets. We allow brides to have a forever piece of art that is custom to them to keep forever in a beautiful way. Our customers are primarily brides. However, we also work with customers that would like to preserve sentimental flowers such as funeral arrangements, anniversary bouquets, and baby's birth flowers!

Tell us about yourself

I am a 22-year old that started this business at age 19. I have always wanted to be an entrepreneur, and Pressed Floral was a light bulb moment. I believe that I created a market that did not exist previously. The growth of the business has been motivating on its own, and I see so much potential with what it can become. I am motivated by the risk, the difficulty, and reaching my full potential at everything in life. In relationships, accomplishments, business, and knowledge. Being able to be creative as a CEO and create a work environment that my team loves is so motivating!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishments up to this point were opening a brick-and-mortar store and hiring a team of employees. It is a dream come true!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

There are a lot of hats to juggle as a CEO. The hardest thing is deciding what hats are most important to wear and what are better to pass off to a member of my team. This is hard because it is hard for me to realize if it was a good decision to pass off that hat until later down the road when I don't feel like that job was done the way I could have. If I want growth, I have to accept that I can't do everything, and that is tough to accept at times.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Surround yourself with like-minded people that support your desire to be an entrepreneur and take risks.
  2. Have a mentor that you can meet with frequently to talk about your business in a futuristic way.
  3. Have confidence in yourself and your abilities. You can accomplish more than you even realize.
