From Where You Are to Where You Should Be - Prepory

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Daniel Santos, CEO of Prepory, located in Miami, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Prepory is a college admissions and career coaching company. Through our college admissions practice, we guide high school students from 33+ countries through every step of the college admissions and application processes, including curating an extracurricular profile, writing compelling essays, selecting high school courses, and building a winning admissions profile from 9th to 12th grade.

We help our clients land their dream jobs through our career coaching practice! Our clients have earned careers in marketing, the federal government, engineering, healthcare, engineering, education, consulting, and technology.

Tell us about yourself

I'm an education aficionado. The processes to apply to college and eventually land a career are non-intuitive and confusing despite being integral to your long-term academic and professional success.

I'm most motivated by our team's insatiable passion for the success of our clients. Our team obsesses on the details and cultivates client relationships that feel like family, ultimately earning our clients the best outcomes in our industries.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Our Class of 2022 admissions results. Prepory students were admitted to all 8 Ivy League schools, Stanford, and MIT.

Despite this admissions cycle being the most selective in history, Prepory students were over 146% more likely to be admitted to highly selective institutions than other applicants. We define highly selective institutions as colleges and universities with less than a 20% acceptance rate.

When responding to a survey, 100% of our students said that working with our firm made them more confident about navigating the college admissions process.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing that comes with being a business owner is being permanently on. What I mean by "being on" is actively thinking about how to improve, grow, or better manage your business while you sleep, eat, exercise, or participate in leisure activities.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be hungry.
  2. Be adaptable.
  3. Surround yourself with people you trust.
