What's your business, and who are your customers?

I do many fun things in the podcasting space. I'm a freelance and independent copywriter and project manager for podcasts. My customers are anyone who wants great show notes and a consistent podcast that matches their voice.

Tell us about yourself

I first got into podcasting around 2016, when I started a podcast I'm still very proud of called 'What's Up at the Belly Up' at a music venue I worked with. From there, I fell in love with the medium and met some amazing people in the podcast community. I currently work for a wonderful production company called Podfly which I recommend if people want the full deal of editing + all the best practices. I also have my own clients for writing and project management.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

The ability to multitask! I also perform comedy, have my own comedy podcast, and am a contributing writer for a few lifestyle publications. I am tooting my own horn. I've been very diligent about staying organized with my own business expenses, salaries, and both the macro and micro decisions to make as a freelance entrepreneur.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The flip side of multitasking - is being really busy! Not having the time for even more creative endeavors.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Focus on one growth plan at once for a short amount of time instead of trying to do everything all at once.
Find great mentors who have done something similar. Join groups of like-minded people who want to see you succeed.
Think of the solutions you can provide for your network rather than selling what you've got. I get hit up by so many other business owners on LinkedIn that are just mass pitching their company or product but haven't taken the time to see if it would actually be a fit.
