Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Lloyd Lofton, Founder of Power Behind The Sales, located in Conyers, GA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I teach sales professionals the core values of what moves people. The Sales Hero’s Guide to Handling Objections methodology is at the center of his work and taps into the foundation of human desires, behavior, and motivations - fully equipping sales professionals to deliver unwavering value and astounding results!

Tell us about yourself

I started with John Hancock in 1977 as a debit agent. I have 30+ years of door-to-door, call center, business-to-business, and needs-based selling experience. I am a successful business leader who has led large sales distributions producing 50 million or more a year in sales, recruiting hundreds of sales professionals in one year, and who have trained managers, from field sales leaders to executive level. My philosophy is you train what you know, and you reproduce who you are.

I am a salesman and a leader, companies who engage me want improvement in their sales distribution, they want growth in the skill set of their sales managers, and they expect their executives to reach inside to be better leaders to do more.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I have been interviewed by the Wealth Channel through American College and Annuity News Now, and I am a frequent contributor to numerous industry-related magazines, podcasts, and radio shows.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The hardest thing about investing in the growth of others is caring more about their progress than they do at times. You have to remember two things. You can't make a donkey a horse, and while you can bring a horse to water, understanding you can't make them drink is a learning experience. When you learn this, you then realize you can "salt" their oats!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Start with what you have right now, today!
  2. Listen to understand, not to respond.
  3. Fail often. It's the best lesson to success!
