What's your business, and who are your customers?

Poka-Yoke Solutions is an operations agency that supports clients from $1M - $100M in annual revenue. We improve operational efficiency, in turn helping run things with less error, higher profits, and more clarity.

Tell us about yourself

I have worked with various companies to help create and scale their operations departments. In 2018, I started Poka-Yoke Solutions because I wanted to help more companies on a greater scale and desired time freedom while doing it. My kids are a huge motivation for me because they are growing up while my company is growing, and they are experiencing that you can do anything you put your mind to and do work that you love.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My proudest moment so far is when I ran my first payroll in July 2021.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Balancing personal and business finances. You depend on yourself to be paid, but others depend on you too. So there are times when budgets have to be balanced in order to invest in doing what you want.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. You can do anything you set your mind to. There is more than enough for everyone.
  2. Pay yourself first. You can't grow a business if you aren't there to run it.
  3. If something doesn't work out the way you hoped, it's simply a lesson to be learned. Try again, a different way.
