What's your business, and who are your customers?
Podcast Atlantic is a Podcast Directory for Atlantic Canadian Podcasts and a Production Company for those who want to dip their toes into the podcasting world but do not want the hassle of dealing with equipment, editing, and everything else that comes with the production of a great podcast. We are a professional Podcasting company dedicated to professional service, quality storytelling, and trustworthy results.
Tell us about yourself
I am the Owner/Operator of Podcast Atlantic, and I have over thirty years of experience in the storytelling business. As a producer with Eastlink’s Community Television channel in Nova Scotia, I have valuable experience working with community groups and individuals. The goal was simply to tell a good story.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
They say that most businesses will fail within five years. As I start my sixth year, I am especially proud that Podcast Atlantic is still here and that we have the largest directory of podcasts in Canada.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
As a creative person, business was never my strong suit. I am a solopreneur, so I have been doing everything from Soup to Nuts from day one. Drumming up a new business has been a frustrating part of the journey.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Make sure you have a great bookkeeper/accountant.
- Keep learning every day.
- Know that some days are going to be hard so when you have a good or great day, remember that feeling.
