What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a ceramic designer and curate at Plinth Gallery in Denver, CO.
Tell us about yourself
I need a few arts credits to graduate from private school and took a ceramics class. That derailed going to college for premed. I went to art school for a BFA and then graduated from school in ceramics for my MFA. I have worked in the ceramics field as a designer, potter, artist, educator, and author for 54 years. My career is sustained by a desire to make and design ceramic objects.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I have been able to help others in my field by providing a venue for exhibitions and sales of artists' works.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Maintaining a balanced perspective between making a living and furthering my creative endeavors.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Research your intended field.
- Understand that you need to commit yourself fully.
- Involve others in your pursuit.
