What's your business, and who are your customers?

Hey there ... I am Tammy! The designer behind Plein De Vie Jewelry. I design, make, and carefully curate Nature Inspired Jewelry to bring you soul-level joy while embracing your playful side. My pieces are handmade at my home studio in the Okanagan Valley, Vernon, BC, Canada. All items are beautifully packaged and ready for all your gift-giving. Each piece is timeless and unique and created with Love! I want my customers to feel joyful and alive as they adorn their pieces. My gift to you is my passion, originality, and vibrant life experience. I want you to feel "Plein De Vie" every day!

My pieces are made with 925 sterling silver. I love this metal not only for its softness but for its timeless and classic look of it. It's a durable metal that goes well with just about everything. It transcends time, so you don't have to worry about it going out of fashion, but then again, I don't follow trends and design pieces that help you feel unique in your own personal style while creating a look that is uniquely YOU! My creations are blended with the right size of genuine gemstones, Swarovski crystals, or pearls, where I am guided to create another artistic innovation. When I have finished designing a new piece, I can always feel the excitement bubbling up in its eventual wearer, even before she lays eyes on its elegance. I believe each handcrafted creation chooses its owner. Each piece is full of life or, translated into French, plein de vie.

Tell us about yourself

After working for years in corporate management, I finally decided to relinquish the fast-paced business world and follow my heart. Growing up in Eastern Canada, I was always creative. It is funny, though, where life takes you ... the path you think you are supposed to be on can sometimes change due to life circumstances. But if a skill you have and are passionate about, it will eventually find YOU! I have always been intrigued by jewelry. It was only when I commissioned a local artisan to craft three of my own designs that I realized the major significance of the whole experience. I felt such confidence wearing these pieces. This was when the blueprint for my journey began ... I am so thrilled that you are here and part of my community to follow my ongoing journey. As I moved into retirement, I knew I had to find a way to share my passion. I want every woman who chooses a Plein De Vie design to revel in the simple pleasure of wearing something that so beautifully reflects her authentic self.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Over the years, while doing in-person markets, I had so many fabulous interactions with my customers. The best part for me is when they put on a piece of jewelry after they have purchased and the SMILE on their face is overwhelming. They are just beaming as they move around the room ... they then come back and tell me about all the compliments they have received. Just makes my day! I love helping women feel this way. What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things is being able to balance your business life and personal life. I made the commitment to my husband that I would only work 4 hours per day so that we could enjoy the rest of the day for all that it brings in retirement. I love the balance it created, and I get to do what I LOVE!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

You do not have to do everything all at once ... take small baby steps, test the market, and most of all, follow YOUR passion!
