Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Shlomo Buchler, owner of Maker Pizza, located in Ontario, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are in the business of making happiness in a box. We deliver pizza. Our customers are the absolute best.
Tell us about yourself
We saw an opportunity to provide a better overall pizza experience. Not landing in a place of comfort motivates us. What can we do better? That’s a question we ask ourselves every day.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Growth. Growth affords us the opportunity to build our wonderful Maker family, and that’s an amazing thing.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Managing time. There are a lot of moving parts, a lot of unexpected twists and turns. And before you know it, it’s time to put the kids to bed!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Set realistic expectations. If you break even in year one, you’ve done exceptionally well.
- Be organized and well prepared and if you’re not capable of either, hire someone who is. You will not regret it.
- Recognize your limits. Be honest about your strengths and weaknesses. There is no easy road to success. Blood, sweat, and tears. There’s no way around it.
