Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sarah Kalmeta, Founder of Pivot Point International, LLC., located in Austin, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm Sarah the Pivoter, The Aviation Industry's Change Catalyst and Mindset Expert. I'm a coach for Aviation Professionals who are ready to transform their careers and way of life without the unnecessary noise using easy-to-implement science-backed tools.

Tell us about yourself

I'm a firm believer that you don't have to "do more" to have the life or business you desire. 17 years in aviation, 15 years in BizAv, and over a decade of professional training and coaching led to the development of Pivot Point and the The Permission to PIVOT methodology in 2020.

I stay motivated, knowing that there IS a better way and that I have the tools and capability to transform the aviation industry, which I've been passionate about since I was a young child. Watching my clients go through paradigm shifts that transform their personal lives AND their business is beyond expression - there are simply no words to feeling the ripple effect.

Our personal lives impact our professional lives and vice versa. Life is not an "or" conversation; it is an "and" conversation. Once I realized this, I was able to live a life I not only desired but that I thoroughly enjoyed. Now it is my mission to help other aviation professionals gain a 30,000 foot view of their lives and businesses so that they can too.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Working with one of the top airlines in the world on their mental well-being programme for flight crews and ground staff.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Remembering to allow for white space in the calendar! I love what I do, and I genuinely love learning and expanding myself. However, you can only absorb so much before you need to pause and allow that information to become knowledge that you apply to your daily life so that it can become wisdom. Remembering to pause when you love to sprint can be difficult, so now I schedule it and make it a non-negotiable.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make a plan and choose your focus/NICHE. Don't deviate unless it is an intentional, strategic move.
  2. Get accountability partners - a coach, mastermind group, or fellow entrepreneur.
  3. Surround yourself with others more successful than you and learn from them. Stay humble.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Find ways to remind yourself of your capability. Motivation wanes, but persistence pays off. Set up your environment for success so that it gets to be easy on the hard days. Allow yourself to take time off so you can return to your business with renewed focus, energy, and passion. YOU are your business. Put your own oxygen mask on before you assist others.
