What's your business, and who are your customers?

You know when you feel stuck, frustrated, and not progressing in your life, career, or business? How do we do this? Through a 3 step process of:

Tell us about yourself

At heart, I am a retail guy. I spent over 16 years building leadership and sales teams across the country in the corporate retail industry. Then, I was fortunate to be trained and mentored by author and #1 Leadership Expert John C. Maxwell, where I became a certified corporate trainer and DISC behavioral analysis specialist.

Now, I'm combining the skill of building multimillion-dollar retail businesses with world-class training content as a Business Strategist and Coach to get clients faster results. The reason I do what I do now is because of love. Cheesy, perhaps. I believe everyone deserves to love their life and do what they love every day.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

There are two big accomplishments that come to mind. One that warms my heart is about a client that was stuck in the same entry-level job for five years, drove 2 hours to work and back each day, and wanted to get promoted. After working with her for six months, she was promoted (and allowed to choose her new department), went from $35k/yr to $110k/yr, and was able to work from home! Life changing. Another big win was helping a fashion technology company open an international division of their business and close a billion-dollar contract.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Personality & Mindset. As a business strategist and coach, I've found that most business owners get in their own way in one way or another. For me personally, it was marketing. I didn't know a thing about marketing coming from a corporate retail background. I never really had to think about how to get them in the door as that was our corporate job to drive traffic; our job was to convert.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Hire a coach. An actual coach, not someone who just calls themselves a coach. There is a difference between Coaching, Mentoring, Consulting, Counseling, etc. A coach will not tell you what to do. They will help you navigate your own mind, help you find the answers within, and serve as a thinking and accountability partner. Helping you get out of your own way.
  2. Build a team that excels in the areas you do not. Stay in your area of giftedness.
  3. Build your email list. Other than your people, it is the most valuable asset in your business.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

  • I believe you are one idea away from completely changing your life.
  • I believe the most valuable skill on the planet is the ability to communicate effectively.
  • I believe you are fully resourced to be, do and have anything you want if you are willing to go through the process.
