What's your business, and who are your customers?
Picnic Whistler is a charcuterie arrangement and picnic setup company. We believe every event, no matter how small, should be celebrated in style. Discover local tastes, artfully designed. We combine our love of charcuterie and mountain views with changing how you think about picnics.
Tell us about yourself
My name is Amy Mac, and I am the creator and owner of Picnic Whistler. The idea flourished when I couldn't find catering for the morning of my wedding. I knew a solution must be made, I pitched my wedding photographers on the way out to my first look, and five months later, Picnic Whistler was up and running. Almost two years in, Picnic Whistler went from my side hustle to a full-time job.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
The biggest accomplishment of Picnic Whistler is the deli we are opening in May. Our first storefront location! Never would have imagined an idea on my wedding day would turn into all it has. Along with our charcuterie boxes, customers can be excited to check out our new sandwich menu, locally made meats, artisan charcuterie goods, and so much more.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Various Challenges. At first, the hardest thing to do was to START.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Start! Don't doubt yourself because if you believe wholeheartedly in what you are doing, others will too.
- Work hard. No one else is going to put in the time needed to grow your business.
- Have fun. Being a business owner is no walk in the park, so celebrate the small wins along with the big ones.
