They Are So Cute, They'll Melt Your Heart - Phyther Candles
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in candle-making but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Haseeb Nagi, owner of Phyther Candles, located in Mississauga, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
We sell candles of different types, such as cactus-shaped tealights, beeswax pillar candles, and scented soy candles in glass jars. Mainly my customers are people interested in candles for home decor, party favors, and gifts.
Tell us about yourself
I work a normal 9-5 job, but I was very interested in starting up my own business. I started my eCommerce business in 2018 with a niche product, cactus tealights. It was a success, and since then, I have expanded the collection with other types of candles.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I think my biggest accomplishment is not giving up at the start when things were tough and challenging. There were a lot of failures at the start, but I learned from those and persevered through to make it successful.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Unlike a 9-5 job, it is 24/7. As a business owner, you are responsible for everything and need a laser focus to make it all work.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- I would say the most important thing is to start. Most people think about it and plan but never put their plans into motion.
- Be prepared to fail, but learn from it and improve.
- Obsess over customer satisfaction.
