What's your business, and who are your customers?

PhysiVantage is a sports nutrition company specializing in creating research-based supplements and protein powders for outdoor athletes (climbers, bikers, runners, skiers, etc.)

Tell us about yourself

I'm a veteran climbing coach, researcher, and international best-selling author. I founded PhysiVantage in 2018 as the first climbing-specific nutrition company. Our products are now used by dozens of professional climbers and many thousand passionate recreational climbers. I'm motivated to help athletes of all experience levels engage in their favorite outdoor activities with greater energy, focus, strength, and endurance! I'm humbled by the spectacular feedback from our athletes and customers.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Growing a profitable 7-figure revenue business, despite the headwinds of COVID and difficult economic conditions (and without any outside funding).

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Time management is a constant day-to-day challenge, as there are many demands and moving parts to grow an international sports nutrition company.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Know your customers and exceed their expectations.
  2. Eat, sleep well, and exercise regularly to stay energized for your business activities (and struggles). It takes energy to have an impact!
  3. Stay positive no matter what. Find a silver lining in setbacks, and stay focused on the goal of meeting your customer's needs.
