Source For Better Movement - Physio Ed.

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Gregory Jones, Executive Director of Physio Ed., located in Ojai, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Physio Ed., is an online preventative health resource specifically designed for older adults. Originally created by physical therapists for their patients, it now encompasses daily fitness programs, workshops, and condition-specific information.

Tell us about yourself

As owners of a small physical therapy clinic in Ojai, California, we always knew there was a gap in providing preventative skills and exercises to older adults. This leads to increased risks of fractures, balance issues, chronic health conditions, and an overall decreased quality of life. We wanted to get clinically supported practices and knowledge in the hands of those that need them most--before they need acute care for an injury. We say that "these are the lessons your doctor wishes you had 20 years earlier."

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

We love finding new ways to deliver services to our customers. Currently, we provide resources over YouTube, our website, a streaming 24/7 channel, and through our partners.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Starting in a small town, we've needed to be creative with how we hire and outsource projects. It takes time, but we've built an amazing team and found excellent freelancers for smaller projects.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Study your niche before you decide to start your company. You may find a gap or specialty that has been overlooked.
  2. Make a business plan. We can get so excited about the idea of the company we forget we need to make money at it.
  3. Listen to everyone. You don't have to follow their advice, but many (okay, most) of the best things we've done didn't come from me.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I believe it is essential you have passion for the business you enter. Many challenges come up with any new business. You have to know the cause is bigger than the challenges to succeed.
