What's your business, and who are your customers?
I’m a locally family-owned and operated bakery. When you come into our business, it is a whole vibe. The warmth and love can be seen, felt, and even smelled through the building. Service is always with a smile & you will leave out chuckling to yourself.
Tell us about yourself
My oldest daughter won a pie contest, and I’m the type of mother that says, let’s go for whatever you want to do. We opened up a bakery. I found it to be therapeutic and help me with my depression and anxiety. Turns out this was my calling, and God keeps blessing me and the business. My family, friends & employees who depend on me are what keep me going.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
The biggest accomplishment is employing other people who have a passion for baking. Giving them somewhere to start without requiring an arm & a keg of a resume.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner is staying relevant enough to keep customers coming back time and time again.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
I would say one thing is to ensure you have the residual income you pay for employees. Another thing is to ensure that you have things in place for when you hit dry spells. Lastly, I would say stand firm on your rules for how you run your business because people will try you.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Always go for what you feel. It will never lead you wrong.
