What's your business, and who are your customers?

Petals & Wicks is an experimental scent bar. Escape the world and walk into our cozy candle bar, exploring over 100 fragrances to create your own custom natural soy candle or luxe body products.

Tell us about yourself

Petals & Wicks was an extension of our unique floral design business. We stumbled across a candle bar and immediately knew we wanted to bring the experience of exploring scents and spending quality time with those we love. The smile and laughter of those we meet from all over the country motivate us to continue to create the most unique experience while exploring scents.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Building community! We strongly believe in supporting our community, giving back, and fellow business owners. We've built a reputation of love and trust within our community.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Staffing in today's climate is challenging. It's difficult to hire a good quality team at a rate that small businesses can manage. So we are good to those we hire, and they become family to us.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Build community & trust. Truly care about your community and fellow business entrepreneurs. Support them!
  2. Don't be too hard on yourself. Hire the things you're not so good at, and then focus on the things you are good at.
  3. Be patient!

I do not claim to be a writer, just a good person that enjoys seeing people smile while experiencing scents.
