Maximise Your Leadership Potential - PETADIRI Leadership

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Coach Wendy Wong, Managing Partner of PETADIRI Leadership, located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We create remarkable leadership development experiences guided by PETA Principles:

  • P - Purposeful
  • E - Engaging
  • T - Transformational
  • A - Actionable

We nurture the growth of leaders in dynamic environments.

Our clients fall into three categories:

  1. Companies that invest in their employee's capabilities through skill-building.
  2. Corporate individuals who want to accelerate their careers.
  3. Entrepreneurs that want a business coach to start or transform their businesses.

Tell us about yourself

I have worked in businesses and in corporate environments for many years. I know how hard it can be at times and the value of having a performance coach to build your capability and increase your capacity to impact your world positively. Through the years, I have honed my passion for people development into a thriving business that supports my clients across the globe. It gives me great satisfaction. I am honoured to be part of their growth journey and to be successful on their own terms.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I feel grateful and fortunate to do what I do today. My biggest accomplishment (which I will continue to focus on) is the ability to maintain a "whole-life" balance. Success, to me, is not about how big a business we build. Although the work excites me, that is only one aspect. The more important aspect is to give attention and to give attention to all that is important to me as a "whole-person" - family and social connections, personal well-being, business, and our community.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Keeping that balance of all things important at the forefront of what I do. That means saying "No" and walking away from certain opportunities that come my way. As a business owner, that is hard at that moment. However, in the longer run, it would be harder for me to live with regrets of not doing "the right" thing.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Know why you are in business in the first place. The business must serve your purpose and not the other way around.
  2. Trust yourself to make the right decisions. Go towards your Northstar.
  3. Don't compare yourself with others. Dance to your own drumbeat.
