What's your business, and who are your customers?

Peachy Canyon Winery, our customers are people that enjoy great wines and support small family-owned businesses.

Tell us about yourself

My Dad started making wine in the early 80s. He started our winery in 1988, so I was basically raised in the industry. I am motivated by my desire to make great wines and grow the best wine grapes possible.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment has been staying in business for the past two years. Running a business is hard enough; it was almost impossible during a pandemic.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

This business staying relevant. There are over 200 wineries to choose from in our little town of Paso Robles, California. Luckily for us, we have good relationships with our fellow wineries. We all recommend each other to our customers.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don't quit your day job until you are sure you can pay the bills with your new venture.
  2. Let your customers grow your business; if you overproduce and have to discount your product to sell through it, it's tough to get your price back up.
  3. If you have employees be a kind manager, Happy fingers are happy cash registers!!
