Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Leslie Parran, founder of Peace x Piece Wellness Coaching, located in Eden Prairie, MN, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business, Peace x Piece Wellness Coaching, provides online health and wellness programs for clients who are tired of not being able to solve their health issues and having to rely on medications that don’t actually fix them.
My expertise is in helping people find hidden imbalances in their bodies, causing inflammation and pain. To avoid the toxic effects of prescription medication, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication, over-the-counter medications, or dangerous opioids, I help them naturally rebalance their bodies so that they work the way they are supposed to.
My specific niche has been helping committed, optimistic, family-focused individuals who’ve hit a wall with joint pain to turn it around naturally so that they can feel better, move better, and live better.
I use in-home lab testing so as to “test, not guess” to help people see where their test results correlate with their symptoms. Using natural protocols to approach healing opportunities, I specialize in helping clients address underlying hidden causes of inflammation and pain, whether it is from food sensitivities, toxins, infections/pathogens, hormonal imbalances, energy imbalances, digestion issues, or detoxification problems.
Tell us about yourself
After being a nurse for 40 years as a nurse, and helping patients with chronic illnesses, I became frustrated with why they became sick in the first place. I also developed autoimmune thyroid disease and arthritis and couldn’t depend on my body to work when I needed it to. I was fearful of becoming debilitated to the point that I couldn’t enjoy playing with my grandkids and being active.
I studied functional medicine, known as “root cause” medicine, to learn how to help myself address my own health issues. I became a national board-certified health and wellness coach, with other certifications as a gluten-free practitioner, functional medicine coach, and functional diagnostic nutrition practitioner. With this education and my background as a pain expert in conventional, natural, and integrative therapies, I decided to start my own business to help people improve their health. I provide clients with in-home lab testing, personalized natural healing protocols, and the coaching support they need to help them move from pain to peace.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Taking the risk of starting my own business and being persistent in learning and overcoming the challenges of implementing the business infrastructure to help my clients.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Having to pay attention to spending time on social media marketing and financials, as my focus is always on clients first. That said, a business doesn’t run on its own.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Prioritize your goals based on what will best serve your clients because they come first.
- Stay resilient by taking care of yourself while being persistent in accomplishing your prioritized goals.
- Start small and don’t get overburdened with all the possible “bells and whistles” you could invest in.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
People often don’t realize that much of their health can be within their control. With the right expertise and support, they can learn where their healing opportunities are, some of which may actually be hidden and unknown to them. They can correct these with diet, lifestyle, and natural healing protocols focused on reversing the root causes of their health issues.
