Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in pet care but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Anchalee Theerapatporn, owner of Pawz N' Style Inc., located in Thornhill, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are not just dog groomer; our mission is to make your dog look and feels its best. We thrive on learning and bringing new technics and products to the pet industry. We always attend private classes and pet grooming seminars every year in Canada, the US, England, and Thailand.

Tell us about yourself

I love to have pets around since I was a child back in Thailand but leaving my pets behind with my family to Canada made me realize that I needed to be around a dog again. 4 years later, I finally got into dog grooming school. Even though I don't have a pet at the moment, being at work surrounded by a client's dog makes me happy, and I love them all as my own.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is that all my clients are happy and always repeat back after getting a new dog. After ten years of owning my business, I had won competitions in Canada in the early years of my grooming career.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The challenge for a business owner is finding the right employee who is talented.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Being realistic with finances, having a plan, and getting help from experts.
  2. Find the right person who has the same mindset and vision as you.
  3. Honest is the key to running and growing a business.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Don't over or underestimate yourself. What you are telling yourself that's who you are.
