What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a multi-faceted results-oriented coaching and training company that has several unique specialties for any business, educational institution, or individual. Specialties include presentation and communication skills coaching based on a unique copyrighted methodology.

Tell us about yourself

I started in business in 1994 after retiring from a career in law enforcement. Now, after 29 years in business, I've been extremely fortunate to have had the best mentors and amazing staff. I now have 3 for-profit businesses with 3 international offices and 1 not-for-profit. Inspiring people to be their very best is what motivates my staff and me every day.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment so far was when I was working with a group of fellow veteran business owners on Capitol Hill, and we worked with Congress to enact two historic first-ever pieces of legislation to give Veteran Owned Small Businesses (VOSB) and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB) equal opportunity for federal contracts with the passage of P.L. 106-50, P.L. P.L. 108-183 and Executive Order 13360 signed by President Bush.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Time. Time is so precious, and it always seems there is never enough. Making it work requires excellent managerial skills and great staff. You also need to set achievable and manageable goals that can be executed with success through the management of resources and time.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Get a successful business entrepreneur to be your mentor.
  2. Always be open to new ideas, change, and constructive advice.
  3. Network, Network, Network!
