What's your business, and who are your customers?
GO PHYSIO Physical Therapy & Bike Fitting is a Physical Therapy clinic that treats orthopedic injuries and other functional limitations such as low back pain, knee pain, and balance, to name a few. We specialize in Bike Fitting, which is the process of helping a rider address pain, discomfort, or efficiency on their bicycle. Lastly, we also offer wellness services that include soft tissue work and personal training. Our customers include anyone who wants to move better and feel better while performing any imaginable activity, including cycling, hiking, or even knitting!
Tell us about yourself
I became interested in PT and Bike Fitting to address my own injuries that were a result of poor movement patterns and incorrect bike fit, as well as a desire to help others feel better. I am motivated every day by knowing that I have a chance to help people move better, which results in them being more active and feeling better.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is continued growth and success, despite the pandemic.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The most difficult part of being a business owner is establishing and maintaining boundaries around time. It is easy to get caught up in checking and responding to emails on a Sunday morning. It can become a slippery slope that results in working all day, thinking about work as you fall asleep, dreaming about the business, and waking up to check email and return to the office. Boundaries are important, and it is vital to remember that one of the main benefits of owning a business is that you, the owner, get to decide the hours of the business. Stick to them.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Do something that you love but remember that you will be doing it ALL THE TIME! If you aren't prepared for that, keep it as a hobby.
- Create boundaries around your time and stick to them. Your customers are important, but you can't take care of them if you don't take care of yourself.
- Trust others. In order to grow your business, you need to realize that you can't do it all yourself.
